My Shopping Rules, tips and tricks

by - August 02, 2016

Today's post is going to be a little different. I'm going to write about my Shopping Rules and basically explain how I shop, what I look for in a product and other interesting things. I was never one of those people who were obsessed with having every single thing high branded but I was thought to choose items weather that's clothes, shoes, makeup or most random thing ever to be best quality and something that lasts for a long time. If I can't invest in Gucci bag, I wouldn't just run to the store and purchase three or four bags that look nice but are low quality just to make myself feel better. I'd much rather prefer not getting anything for a while, saving up and when it's the right time I'll get what I want. However I don't always go for famous brands and I feel so lucky and happy when I find small new brand who creates and sells great items.

It's better to purchase one good thing then a thousand of random little items that will last you for a less then a month. I know there are a lot of people who just enjoy in having more different items and trying to play with them and do different outfits and combinations which I think is great but I'm not like that. I am buying clothes from H&M, Zara, Topshop, Asos but also XYZ, Chanel, UGGs, YSL and bunch of other brands. I think it's best to have mix of both. The items that are best to invest in are: jeans, bag and shoes. Everything else you can mix and match, play around and have fun with. Not always are expensive things good and not always lower priced items are bad.

I recently went shopping hunting for a new pair of jeans. I did a blog post on ''Denim trend'' which you can read HERE if you are interested in finding my favorite denim/jeans brand. I mentioned Diesel and those were the jeans that I wore for a good 2 years which is let's be real, long time and that just proofs their great quality and I'm very proud and happy I purchased them. They were probably around 170$ but as you can tell, it was great investment. So, I went searching for a new pair and I came across gorgeous GUESS jeans which are 159$ (if you want, I can do a blog post about them) and I hope they will last me just as long or even close. I could have just bought five pairs of jeans for the same amount of money but I didn't.  So this was just an example of how it's better to save up for something that will last you long time. The best thing is when you can find small, not expensive brands that are very good quality. This is the hardest but if you really take some time and do research on internet and other fashion blogs, you'd be surprised how many of them exist.

The last tip I want to quickly mention is whenever you're shopping and you find something you really like just try to think: With what can I wear this? Plan little outfits and if you just can't make them at the moment, that means you should leave that item alone, put it back and try to find something else.

  1. I love Asos and Zara and I usually buy lots of items in sale period! And I always plan my outfits while shopping and try to think of other items in my closet to see if a new item will be wearable with other items as well! Great tips!

    1. Thank Yiota :) We're the same then! I do that all the time, it's so important because before there was a time when I buy so much stuff and I come home and I don't know with what to wear them and I get so stressed out.

  2. Quality over quantity has become a big one for me! I tend to sleep on it a few nights before making a purchase and think it over whether I really need that piece and how much wear I's get out of it.

  6. Great shopping tips! As for me, I only shop when I really need to or when something is so versatile and on sale. I stop and think "can I mix this up and create 5 different outfits from it?". If the answer is yes then it sure is going home with me. :)

  13. Great tips, darling! I'm one of those people who find it VERY difficult to save up any amount of money, haha, but you are right something it's better to do that than buy lots of smaller things that you'll end up not using. :) Thanks for sharing!

  28. Great post! I love the tip about asking yourself what you would wear an item with and making sure you can plan an outfit around it. I've made this mistake so many times and bought things that don't fit with the other pieces in my closet at all!

  29. I hardly ever plan my outfits, I just buy things I like and hope for the best haha but I agree that planning what you could pair the item with really does help. I've had times where I didn't wear something because it didn't go with anything in my wardrobe... Oops! :D x
